We are offering shielded "Y-cables" (splitters) specifically made for Roland, Alesis, eDRUMin and Simmons electronic drum modules to expand the number of drum pads beyond the number of pads that are directly supported by the drum module. The purpose of this cable is to split the original stereo cable of dual-zone drum pad with "head/rim" zones (e.g. Tom or Snare on supported drum modules - see below) into two separate cables that allow you to connect one original drum pad (which will become single-zone pad with "head" zone) along with one additional single-zone drum pad like Tom 4, Tom 5 or cow bell.

As an example, the attached photo below shows how this Y-cable is attached to original 1/4 inch jack (TRS) connector of Tom 3 pad (green line) and then how Tom 3 (blue line) and new Tom 4 (red line) pads are wired.

The new Tom 4 pad is configured in the drum module as "rim" zone of the existing Tom 3 instrument. Ideally, both pads connected to this Y-cable should be of the same type, e.g. both both PDX-100 or one PD-105 and one PD-85.

Our Y-cables and Y-splitters are compatible with the following Roland drum sound modules that can handle dual-zone pads and the drum module is capable of setting different sounds separately to "head" and "rim" zones:
    • Roland TD-9 (for Snare, Tom 1, Tom 2, Tom 3, Crash 2, Aux);
    • Roland TD-11 (for Snare, Tom 1, Tom 2, Tom 3, Crash 2);
    • Roland TD-12 (for Snare, Tom 1, Tom 2, Tom 3, Crash 1, Crash 2, Aux 1, Aux 2);
    • Roland TD-15 (for Snare, Tom 1, Tom 2, Tom 3, Crash 2, Aux);
    • Roland TD-17 (for Snare, Tom 1, Tom 2, Tom 3, Crash 2, Aux);
    • Roland TD-20 (for Snare, Tom 1, Tom 2, Tom 3, Tom 4, Crash 1, Crash 2, Aux 1, Aux 2, Aux 3, Aux 4);

    • Alesis DM10 (for Snare and Toms);
    • Alesis DM10 MKII (for Tom 4 and Crash 2);

    If you have any other model, please contact us before placing an order to verify the compatibility. Also please visit our FAQ page for more information.

    When used with Crash inputs, the "choking" feature may become disabled.

    We offer several types of the splitter Y-cables, please browse the selection on "Store" page). These custom-made new cables contain electronic component(s) embedded usually inside the female TRS connector.

    The color-coding of the two 1/4 inch plugs is as follows:
    • The plug with RED ring is for HEAD;
    • The plug with GREEN ring is for RIM;
    This Y-cable has been already tested with various Roland drum modules (listed above) and drum pads (e.g. PD-6, PD-8, PD-85, PDX-6, PDX-8, PDX-100 and similar) and it is known to work even with Roland RT-10 drum triggers and Pintech PC Series cymbal pads (as confirmed by one of the buyers).
